Wingnut Wings Halberstadt CL.II (Late)

I built this model in 2019, but didn’t really have it out of the loft very much until recently. Not one for entering competitions, my family convinced me to enter it for IPMS Scale Model World in 2022 when it won gold for best in class and the Great War Aviation Society Trophy for the best WW1 aircraft in the show. Of course I was thrilled, even more so because the model was built completely out of the box with very minor extras. I avoided using aftermarket decals for the subtle mottled camouflage on the fuselage and wing centre section, instead using the airbrush techniques that were once present on their website tutorial. These are astoundingly good kits that allow you to do as much or as little as you like to them and still get a great result. We can only hope that at some point those moulds, one assumes still intact somewhere in the far east, resurface under another name soon.
