A pair of old kits and a bit of a rediscovery as I rummage through the loft. Built as part of s series of 1/72 scale silver wings aircraft around ten years ago, I was pretty proud at the time of this pair made from what must be one of my favourite Airfix kits of all time. Originally released in the late sixties, it still builds into a fine model with a bit of care, and looking at them now I’m still pretty proud of them, particularly with the double rigging wires! The trainer was a simple conversion which meant adding two small fillets to the wings to sweep them back, cutting out the second cockpit, applying new panels to the front section of the fuselage, and adding a new plasticard tail. The single seater depicts a No.29 Squadron machine with decals from a RAFDec sheet, whilst the trainer uses modified kit decals for No.56 squadron machine.
